About the Book
Liespotting translates professional interrogation methods, facial recognition training, and decades of deception research into practical tools for business leaders, negotiators, interviewers, and anyone who needs to get to the truth.
Pamela Meyer shows readers how to recognize the verbal, facial, and behavioral signals that often hide in plain sight. Drawing from techniques used in intelligence, law enforcement, psychology, and corporate training, she reveals how to ask better questions, spot inconsistencies, and identify the patterns that separate truthful stories from deceptive ones.
In a world where friends, colleagues, clients, candidates, and competitors may not always say what they mean, Liespotting gives readers a practical framework for detecting deception in high-stakes conversations. Meyer shows that spotting lies is not about snap judgments, gimmicks, or relying on a single “tell.” It is about listening closely, reading clusters of behavior, understanding context, and using proven techniques to uncover what is said, what is omitted, and what people may be trying to conceal.

From Liespotting to How to Read the Room
Liespotting introduced readers to Pamela Meyer’s groundbreaking work on deception detection: how to spot hidden signals, ask better questions, recognize inconsistencies, and get closer to the truth when the stakes are high.
Her new book, How to Read the Room: The Art and Science of Social Observation, expands that lens. Where Liespotting helps readers detect deception, How to Read the Room helps them understand the full social landscape around it: power, trust, emotion, status, influence, resistance, and unspoken meaning.
Together, the books form a practical guide to seeing what most people miss. Liespotting teaches readers how to detect when the truth may be concealed. How to Read the Room teaches them how to understand what is happening in the room before the truth is ever spoken.
For leaders, managers, negotiators, investigators, and anyone who depends on high-stakes conversations, the two books offer a powerful progression: learn how to spot deception and learn how to read the room.
